Cooperation with the Municipality of Heerlen

A municipality with ambitious plans for the future has to be able to count on its people. In their dedication and motivation. In their willingness and enthusiasm for changing and for bringing about changes. And in their employability. In Heerlen, they are now well on their way. Together with 365/Zin.

A promising result for the Municipality of Heerlen.

"At the Municipality of Heerlen, we are hard at work in cooperation with 365 to boost our engagement. The figures speak for themselves. For instance, there is a proven link between engagement and low absenteeism rates. Absenteeism at our department dropped from 8% to 4.5%. That means the department that used to have the highest absenteeism rates now boasts the lowest. A promising result,"
according to Miriam van der Mee, Head of the Department of Labour and Social Affairs

About the cooperation

The Municipality of Heerlen has major plans for the area. And that makes quite a few demands on the organisation. They know how to ultimately achieve their goals: with a healthy, stimulating organisational culture. With people who want to give their all. And who enjoy their work and feel good doing it. Engaged people, in other words. We at 365 have known for years that engagement is the key to bringing about cultural changes and reducing absenteeism. And now, the Municipality of Heerlen knows that too. 365/Zin first ran a pilot at a department with 150 employees in 2006. The spearheads of the improvement plans were collaboration and communication. The pilot was successful, and the entire organisation is now going through the same process. The objective: to keep people working healthily and joyfully. To keep people engaged, to reduce absenteeism and to make the organisation effective and decisive.

Figures/results

  • Absenteeism reduction at the pilot department from 8% to 4.5%.
  • Demonstrable link between mental fitness and absenteeism.
  • Notification frequency of burnout group twice that of the engaged group.
  • Organisational average absence rate: 5.5%
  • Absence rate of engaged employees: 2.9%

Success in this case and opportunities for you:

  • Engagement for your organisation.
  • Reports/analyses about the link between absenteeism and mental fitness.
  • Creating awareness and support among employees.
